After you have purchased the barcode generator add-in license, you will be emailed with the licensed barcode software download information.

1. Download the zip file OnBarcode.Excel.Barcode.Production.zip from the URL inside the received email.
2. Uninstall the existing OnBarcode Barcode Add-in for Excel
3. Unzip the file, and install the licensed barcode add-in on Microsoft Excel

Some barcode symbology will recommend you the choose specified font on linear barcode text label (Human Readable Interpretation). For example, GS1 System recommends the linear barcodes (EAN/UPC, GS1-128, ITF-14, GS1 DataBar) to use OCR-B font for numbers shown under the barcode symbols.

OnBarcode Barcode Add-in for Excel will include one free OCR-B font file for GS1 barcodes.

If you want to add a font to be used in the linear/1d barcode in Excel. You can try the following procedures.

1. Copy the font files to C:\Windows\Fonts foler. TrueType (file extension .ttf) and OpenType (.otf).
2. Windows will automatically install them.

If you cannot find tab "Add-ins" in Excel toolbar, or no "OnBarcode.com" group in the "Add-ins" tab, try the following steps:

• Click "Office Button" > "Excel Options" > "Trust Center" > "Trust Center Settings..."> "Add-ins". Then, undo "Disable all Application Add-ins (may impair functionality)" and click "OK".
• Now, switch to "Add-Ins" > "COM Add-ins" (from the "manage" pull-down menu) > "Go".
• In the pop-up window, select "OnBarcode Excel AddIn" and click "OK".

Now, the Excel Barcode Add-In is successfully integrated under "Add-Ins" tab.

If you meet one of the following situations after barcode add-in installation completed.

• The Barcode Generator Excel add-in is disabled in Excel application after installation completed
• The barcode add-in works properly after installation. However after the computer is restarted, the barcode generator add-in is disabled

To solve the problem, you can try the following procedures.

• Open the Excel application
• Go to Menu [File] -- [Options]
• In "Excel Options" dialog, go to tab "Add-ins"
• Choose the "Disabled Items", click "Go..."
  
• Choose OnBarcode addin, and enable it.

If the problem is still there, you could check the registry table in your Windows system.

• To open registry editor, press [Win + R], enter "regedit"
• Then check the following information "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Excel\Addins\OnBarcode.OnBarcodeExcelAddIn"
  
• If the data value is 3, the Excel application will automatically load the OnBarcode Addin.
• The barcode generator add-in will write the four items in the registry table with completely the same content

Sometimes the Barcode Excel Add-in is inactive status after installation.

To solve the problem, you can try the following procedures.

• Open the Excel application
• Go to Menu [File] -- [Options]
• In "Excel Options" dialog, go to tab "Add-ins"
• In "Manage:" selection, choose "COM Add-ins". Press "Go..."
  
• In the "COM Add-ins" dialog, select "OnBarcode Excel AddIn". Press "OK"
  

The trial version and licensed version of Barcode Generator Add-in Excel freeware are with the exactly same features. The only difference is that using the trial version of barcode generator freeware, the generated barcode image will be printed a red watermark text on it.


Using the licensed software, the printed barcode will not display any watermark on the barcode.

However if you select a generated barcode image on Excel worksheet, you may find that some barcode options on the "Barcode Settings" pane are disabled.

There are two reasons may cause the barcode settings are disabled.

1. The options are not appliable for the current barcode format. For example, if the current selected barcode type is Code 128, all options under tab 2D Barcode will be disabled.
   
2. The options are not appliable becaused of the other options are selected. For example, if the property Auto resize is checked, the two options Bar width (X) and Bar height (Y) are not applicable.
