Adding Documents to Your Library
The process of adding items to a document library is similar from one library to another If you are working with the Knowledge Base in the Customer Support application, for instance, click the New down arrow, and then choose the Knowledge Base Article option If you are working in the Document Manager, click New and either choose New Document or New Folder from the drop-down menu (see Figure 12-4) As you can see from the preceding image, the New Document option has a Microsoft Word document icon next to it The implication is you are going to add a Word file to the Document Library When you choose New Document, a Word file opens, in which you can type and add to the library Be aware, though, you aren t

limited to Word files: you can upload images, scanned files, and layouts, as well reduce the paper used by your office You can also upload a file from your file system to your Document Library Click the Upload down arrow, and then choose Upload Document or Upload Multiple Documents When the Upload Document page appears, click Browse, locate the file you want to upload, and then locate the file in the Open dialog box Next, click OK to add the file to your document library If you aren t currently registered as a user who has Administrator or Editor access to the Document Library, you won t be able to upload a new document You see a Word document stating you do not have access You need to add yourself as a user to the library or upgrade your permissions Before you add documents, however, you need some organization You can create folders into which you can organize the files When you choose New Folder from the New menu, Office Live presents you with the New Folder: Document Library screen Type a name for the folder in the Name box shown in Figure 12-5, and then click OK
